Generally, people advise you to do the following when using Affirmations.
Choose a positive statement that resonates with you and relates directly to your goals.
Phrase it as if they are happening now, in the present moment. Repeat it regularly throughout the day, preferably out loud, while focusing on the meaning.
As you incorporate it into your routine, feel and believe in the words and visualize receiving the outcome.
This leverages the Law of Attraction by increasing the focus on what you want vibrationally. So why are results so disappointing?
The Law of Attraction means that you get what you are vibrationally. When you use affirmations it’s as if you are singing two songs. You have the music of all your programming and you also have the music of your affirmation.
Occasionally, you may sing your affirmation more loudly and see results, but most of the time the programs with which you have identified will be louder.
Affirmations are useful in understanding who you want to become. However, they are not needed to manifest abundance. Abundance is your birthright. Receiving this abundance is blocked by all our expectations about our reality. These are all the messages or programming we have absorbed from family and culture.
When you gradually deprogram everything you have constructed as part of yourself you are left with your essence. This deprogramming brings you more into alignment with your truth. Then you are more able to live this truth because it will be your vibrational song.
You can intentionally support deprogramming and move into the truth of who you are. As you express more of who you are you will naturally find yourself in receipt of greater abundance. You can support this shift by adopting mindfulness practices, following inner guidance, doing shadow work, and where necessary practicing conscious detachment.
Mindfulness Practices
Stay present and observe how social expectations influence your thoughts and actions.
Cultivate non-attachment to labels, roles, and material measures of worth.
Reflect on philosophies like non-dualism, which dissolve the illusion of separateness created by social constructs.
Inner Guidance
Connect with your intuition or higher self through meditation, prayer, or introspection.
Trust your inner wisdom over external validation.
Focus on giving and serving through the things that inspire you.
Shadow Work
Examine and integrate hidden aspects of yourself, including beliefs tied to fear, shame, or societal approval.
Work through discomfort to understand how societal norms have shaped your identity.
Let go of and forgive resentment or judgment toward yourself and others for adhering to societal expectations.
Conscious Detachment
Limit exposure to environments, media, or groups that reinforce harmful societal constructs.
Focus on building communities or relationships aligned with your spiritual values.
Be deliberate on where you choose to direct your focus.
By consistently practicing these approaches, you can align with your true self, free from the confines of external expectations.
